Overview
Did you ever wonder how a hollow automotive rubber tyre bears the load and pressure without losing its shape?
The answer lies in the cord fabric that is embedded in a layer of rubber all around the tyre. SRF is the second-largest manufacturer of nylon 6 tyre cord fabrics in the world. It is also India’s first and only plant to produce new generation High Modulus low shrinkage (HMLS) polyester yarn used as reinforcement in passenger radial tyres. SRF produces its tyre cord fabrics at three manufacturing sites in India. We are the proud winners of the Deming Prize for our tyre Cord Business in 2004, the first tyre cord company outside Japan to earn this unique honour. Today, SRF supplies tyre cord fabrics to all major tyre companies in India.
Products Overview
SRF’s product line up for tyre cord fabrics constitutes the entire range of textile reinforcements such as Nylon Tyre Cord Fabrics (NTCF), Polyester Tyre Cord Fabrics (PTCF), Cycle Tyre Cord Fabrics and Chafer Fabrics including wicking and non-wicking chafer for heavy-duty tyres and tubeless radial tyres. These products are used as reinforcement material in various categories of tyres. The key user segments are passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, heavy commercial vehicles, tractors, and off-the-road tyres including the bicycle.
Nylon Tyre Cord Fabrics
Using both Nylon 6 & Nylon 66 for Greige & Dipped Fabrics
Nylon tyre cords are generally used as reinforcement material inside bias tyres used in trucks & buses and off-the-road (OTR) vehicles.
Standard Construction type/specification: 840/2, 1260/2, 1260/3, 1680/2, 1890/2, 1890/3, 2520/2, 2835/2 Denier construction

For Nylon-66 the yarn is outsourced
Polyester Tyre Cord Fabrics (PTCF)
Polyester tyre cords are generally used as reinforcement inside tyres used in passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.
Standard Construction type/specification: 1000/2, 1000/3, 1500/2, 2000/2 Denier. Specifications as desired by the customers
Cycle Tyre Cord Fabrics
SRF pioneered the introduction of Nylon 6 Tyre Cord Fabrics, in the place of conventional cotton, for the manufacture of bicycle and rickshaw tyres in India. This was carried out through application development and close coordination between the technical teams of both SRF and bicycle tyre manufacturers.
SRF is the market leader in this category and offers
- Nylon 6 fabrics construction with both 840 Denier and 630 Denier. Specifications: As desired by the customers.
- SRF also manufactures Polyester Tyre Cord Fabrics for the manufacture of bicycle tyres with 1000 Denier construction.
- Specifications: As desired by the customers.
Chafer Fabrics
Chafer Fabrics are specialty fabrics used in the manufacture of heavy-duty tyres, especially to protect the side walls of the tyres. The fabric is offered in both wicking & non-wicking types in constructions of 420, 840 and 1260 Denier.
- SRF designs fabrics as per customer requirements.
- 420 D monofilament yarn is outsourced.
Manufacturing Capabilities
With machinery for single-step yarn making, shuttleless looms, dipping machines, direct cabler, and in-house built direct cabler for twisting, SRF is a pioneer in manufacturing nylon 6 tyre cord and polyester tyre cord for all kinds and categories of automotive tyres.
SRF supplies tyre cord fabrics to all major tyre companies in India and abroad. The company operates on the technology from the world-famous Toray Industries for manufacturing High Modulous Low Shrinkage (HMLS) polyester yarn for tyre cord fabric.
