As Chairman Emeritus, Arun Bharat Ram mentors and guides the management in relation to business strategy, corporate governance related matters and in nurturing relationships with external consortiums on policy matters and brand building of the company.
A third-generation entrepreneur, Arun Bharat Ram started his career with the textile division of DCM Ltd. in the late 1966. At DCM, he identified high growth potential in the textile industry and founded SRF Ltd. in 1970 – a nylon tyre cord manufacturer. As the immediate past Chairman of SRF Limited, Arun Bharat Ram is credited with turning his family-owned multi-business organization into a world- class conglomerate. Today, SRF’s business portfolio covers Fluorochemicals, Specialty Chemicals, Packaging Films, Technical Textiles, Coated and Laminated Fabrics. Anchored by a strong workforce of 7,000+ employees working across eleven manufacturing plants in India, one each in Thailand, South Africa and Hungary, the company exports to more than 90 countries.
Ashish Bharat Ram
Chairman & Managing Director
Ashish Bharat Ram took over as the Managing Director of SRF Ltd. in January 2007 and was appointed as Chairman and Managing Director on April 1, 2022. Under his leadership, SRF Ltd. has grown into a major global conglomerate with operations in four countries across India, Thailand, South Africa, and Hungary. Today, its businesses cover a diverse portfolio of Fluorochemicals, Specialty Chemicals, Packaging Films, Technical Textiles, Coated and Laminated Fabrics and command a market leadership position, both in India and overseas.
Prior to joining SRF Ltd. in 1994, Ashish had successful stints at DCM Toyota Ltd., SRF Finance Ltd., and SRF Overseas Ltd. handling a variety of functions that included Sales, Strategy, Marketing, TQM, among others.
Ashish has been studying the dynamics of family businesses for a while now and regularly speaks on the subject at Indian and global platforms. He has also authored articles on subjects related to India’s economic scenario and entrepreneurship in leading publications. Currently, Ashish serves as the Regional Chair for South Asia for the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and is a member of the Northern Region Executive Committee of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
He holds a degree in Economics from Delhi University and an MBA from The Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell University. Ashish is a single-digit handicap golfer and an avid follower of sports.
Kartik Bharat Ram
Joint Managing Director
Kartik is the Joint Managing Director of SRF Ltd., a diversified chemicals conglomerate engaged in the manufacturing of industrial and specialty intermediates. The company’s business portfolio covers Fluorochemicals, Specialty Chemicals, Packaging Films, Technical Textiles, Coated and Laminated Fabrics. With a turnover of ₹12,313 crore (US$ 1.6 billion) in FY22, the company has operations in four countries namely, India, Thailand, South Africa, and Hungary and a customer footprint across 90+ countries.
As Joint MD, Kartik is deeply involved in the creation and strengthening of a performance-based culture within the organization and oversees the Human Resources, Total Quality Management, Information Technology, and the Corporate Communications functions. His passion lies in ensuring that the organization’s capability is continuously enhanced to take on challenges that may lie ahead.
In addition, Kartik serves as the Chairman of KAMA Holdings Limited, a company that holds a majority share in SRF Ltd. He is also a Director of Shri Educare Limited, a company in the school education consultancy space.
Kartik is a fellow of the India Leadership Initiative, Aspen Institute India. He also heads the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region Family Business Network Committee. In the past, he has served as the President of the Indian Blind Sports Association and as the Chairman of the CII Delhi State Council for the year 2007-08.
Drawing experiences from his own family, Kartik spends a significant amount of time studying the dynamics of family business and counsels’ family businesses on topics of family governance, succession, transition, professionalization, and growth.
Kartik is a graduate from Santa Clara University, California and earned an MBA from Cornell University, New York. He is an avid golfer and a winner of multiple pro-am Golf tournaments.
Prashant Yadav
President and CEO, Fluorochemicals Business & Technical Textiles Business
Prashant Yadav is the President and CEO of the Fluorochemicals Business and the Technical Textiles Business. His tenure with SRF began in 1994. Since then, he has meticulously handled varied roles ranging from projects requiring technical services, manufacturing, and marketing across different businesses of the company.
Under Prashant’s leadership and enriching experience of more than 25 years, the company’s Fluorochemicals Business (FCB) has flourished to become one of the few, best-in-class, fully backward integrated producers in the world. This has led to greater efficiencies, providing an edge to SRF in the marketplace. FCB encompasses the manufacture and sale of refrigerants, pharma propellants, and industrial chemicals. FCB has its manufacturing operations at Bhiwadi in Rajasthan and Dahej in Gujarat.
Prashant was named President & CEO of the Technical Textiles Business (TTB) with effect from November 1, 2021. In his role as the CEO of TTB, he oversees diversified areas like manufacturing, marketing & human resources across the various segments of TTB, including Tyre Cord Fabrics, Belting Fabrics and Polyester Industrial Yarn.
A chemical engineer from the University of Roorkee (currently known as IIT-R), Prashant also took it upon himself to complete his PGCBM from XLRI Jamshedpur while working with SRF. His zeal combined with perfect leadership qualities and domain knowledge is instrumental in making SRF’s Fluorochemicals and Technical Textiles Businesses the credible market leaders that they are now.
Anurag Jain
President and CEO, Specialty Chemicals Business & Chemicals Technology Group
Anurag Jain is the President and CEO of the Speciality Chemicals Business and the Chemicals Technology Group (CTG), SRF Ltd. He joined SRF as a Management Trainee in 1994, after graduating from the University of Roorkee (now IIT-R) with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Since then, Anurag has taken on numerous responsibilities in the fields of Technical Services, R&D, New Product Development, Process Design, Operations, Strategy, and Business Development. He has successfully leveraged a core technical background to make significant contributions in key projects like HFC-134a and various specialty chemical plants. Subsequently, as a move to get into the commercial side of the business, Anurag also did his EPBM from IIM-Calcutta.
Being the co-patent holder for the first patent granted to SRF, Anurag has been the driving force behind the turnaround of the Specialty Chemicals Business and for putting it on a strong growth trajectory. Today, this business is a key growth driver for the company nurturing strong relationships with many key global agrochemical and pharmaceutical players.
Under Anurag’s leadership, the capability of the CTG team been increasing year after year. With a better understanding of market dynamics and priorities, some of the technologies that we are now working on are of an extremely complex nature and will ensure that we keep building on the distance between our competitors and us. Our portfolio of products at the development stage keeps growing and will ensure that the CTG team is always kept busy with new challenges.
Anurag believes that people are his biggest strength. He takes an active interest in their development enabling them to take up more responsibilities. Technology of all kinds fascinates Anurag. He is a great example of someone who finds joy in the small things in life.
Prashant Mehra
President & CEO, Packaging Films Business, Coated & Laminated Fabrics Business
Having started his career in SRF as an Executive Trainee in 1996, Prashant Mehra held various leadership positions across businesses before he became the President & CEO of the Packaging Films Business in 2013. His journey in SRF had started in the Planning & PPC division of the Fluorochemicals business. He also served as Executive Assistant to MD and Chairman in the past. His experience in these roles lay the foundation on which he grew and understood the finer nuances of business operations, financial management, and market development.
As the Head of the Packaging Films Business, Prashant is credited with building up exports that eventually transformed the company from a non-exporter to the largest exporter of PET Films from India. Putting his market insight to work, he currently spearheads a programme that aims at strengthening the company’s reputation of ‘Easy To Do Business With’ among all its customers. His uncompromising belief in customer satisfaction helped him establish SRF as a preferred supplier to the converting industry internationally.
A Chemical Engineer from BITS, Pilani and an MBA from Dayalbagh Educational Institute, Agra, Prashant is currently focused on expanding the global footprint of the Packaging Films Business both in terms of operations as well as market.
His pilotage also ascertains that the Coated and Laminated Fabrics Businesses have a wider market penetration as the company continues to introduce new products and maintain domestic leadership in these businesses.
Rahul Jain
President & CFO
Rahul Jain has been working with SRF Limited for more than ten years. Rahul is a Chartered Accountant and has diverse functional experience ranging from Treasury & Cash Management, FX and Interest Rates Management, Offshore Fund Raising, Private Equity, Foreign Currency Convertible Bonds, among others. Rahul has also been involved in multiple Mergers & Acquisitions and their integration with the acquirer.
Throughout his 20-year career in accounting, auditing, and financial planning, Rahul has been instrumental not only in building excellent teams but also aligning financial and business metrics to support business strategy and high-growth.
As Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Rahul is responsible for the overall financial strategy and direction at SRF. He guides the controller, treasury, investor relations, accounting, tax, secretarial, and internal audit functions to pursue the company’s aggressive growth strategy and meet its clients’ and investors’ expectations. He also oversees the Risk Management function which includes constructing and monitoring reliable control systems, appropriate insurance coverage, and report risk issues to the audit committee of the board of directors.
Rahul likes to travel and listen to music in his personal time.
Ajay Chowdhury
President and CHRO
Ajay Chowdhury is the President and CHRO of SRF Ltd. An alumnus of Hindu College and Jawaharlal Nehru University, he is a people person who goes beyond his call of duty to counsel and lead his teams. With an MBA degree in Human Resources from the Faculty of Management Studies, Ajay is an ardent believer of capability development, ethics, and joy at the workplace.
He joined SRF in 2010 with the aim to transform words such as “business-aligned”, “value-driven”, “issue-based”, “employee-centric” from being jargons to becoming the very essence of his workdays in the firm. With him, these words find their true meaning.
His more than 2 decades of rich work experience has seen him lead teams both in India and abroad. His work experience in the UK helped him further hone his cross-cultural people management skills.
Sanjay Rao
President & CIO
Sanjay Rao leads the IT organization in SRF as the Group Chief Information Officer (CIO). He took over this role in 2006 and has since been on a path of IT transformation to support the emerging organizational needs. The journey started with the consolidation of IT Teams into Centers of Excellence followed by datacenter, Infrastructure consolidation, and virtualization. This formed the basis for Core Applications consolidation globally. Furthermore, the common applications and data stores laid the foundation for value-added applications like Dashboards that help the organization make key decisions. The integration of machine data with IT systems is now helping SRF gain substantial shop floor efficiencies. Information Technology is now an essential driver of productivity, lower costs and customer delight at SRF.
Sanjay Rao completed his schooling from Apeejay School, New Delhi and earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from IIT-BHU. He began his career at Shriram Fertilizers and Chemicals, Kota as an Engineer Trainee and then joined SRF Limited as a Product Manager in the year 1995. Over the years, he has held various business functions including Purchasing, Projects, Plant Operations, Marketing, Sales, and even ran an E-commerce business much before its boom. With the right exposure to business and technology, he is able to make the right IT related investment decisions that result in clear business benefits.
Sanjay Rao also heads the Shared Services Centre (SSC) for SRF, which currently provides financial services to the Indian businesses. Using technology, SSC is able to improve the efficiencies of the financial processes leading to productivity gains.
He has been named the Top 100 CIOs of India by IDG in 2016 and awarded the Top 100 Innovative CIOs of India recognition by the Thought Leaders/CMO Group.
